A new era begins with the electric bus project in Samsun

Speaking to the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Council, Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “We are in talks with TEMSA about 15 buses that run on lithium batteries with a lifespan of 15 years, can be recharged in 7 minutes, have a running cost of 1 in 10 compared to fossil fuels, and a large passenger carrying capacity. With the coordination of ASELSAN, we plan to increase this number to 20 thanks to TEKNOFEST”.

The closing meeting of the Metropolitan Municipal Council for January took place today. 61 points were discussed during the assembly chaired by the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Samsun, Mustafa Demir. President Mustafa Demir briefed the board members on developments regarding investments and projects.

Expressing that a new era will begin in Samsun with the electric bus project in public transport, Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir pointed out that the project is a first in Turkey with its lithium battery and ultra-charging system. Stating that they aim to put the buses into service in May, Chairman Demir said: “We are in talks with TEMSA about 15 buses that run on lithium batteries with a lifespan of 15 years, can be recharged in 7 minutes, have an operation cost of 1 in 10 compared to fossil fuels and a high passenger carrying capacity. With the coordination of ASELSAN, we plan to increase this number to 20 thanks to TEKNOFEST. We will put the buses on the route from the May 19 district to the airport. We are also creating a circular line in the city. In the future, we plan to put these buses on the line from the city hospital. We will rehabilitate all transportation to Samsun in the future with this system by reviewing quarterly data on issues such as operating costs, capacity and efficiency.”

Expressing that they do not entrust their road investments to private companies, President Demir said:

THE STRONGEST CONCRETE IS DISPLAYED ON THE ROAD TO LIBERATION

“We carry out all the construction works such as surfacing and the concrete road with our own teams. We do not bid. We have a 300 kilometer C30 grade ferrous concrete road program ahead of us. We remove the concrete road on Kurtuluş Yolu, which was broken before, and rebuild a C30 grade reinforced concrete road. Thanks to TEKNOFEST, we will do very serious productions at the airport. Again we will enter the superstructures in Atakum, İlkadım, Canik and Tekkeköy in the industry, and in İncesu, Çatalçam, Altınkum and Taflan. Our work continues on the way to Terme, Çarşamba Kızılot. We will also buy related pipes from SASKİ. About 80-100 million. We will lay the pipes with our own teams. ”

ENERGY COSTS ARE ALMOST RESET

The Mayor of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, Mustafa Demir said, “We have a responsibility to be the exemplary municipality that makes the best use of information and technology” and said, “The use of technology in all areas, including smart city applications, significantly reduces our costs. We are currently transitioning to geographic information systems. This will be an important item on the agenda for all of our district municipalities to adopt. Together, as a metropolitan municipality, we stand with all our district municipalities. With the GES and WPP projects, 150 million lira will be generated each year for the municipality. We are reducing all of our energy costs to almost zero,” he said.
