ABB India to Deploy Next Generation Digital Technology for Power Supply at Indore, Energy News, ET EnergyWorld
ABB and ISCDL now plan to replicate the same model in other parts of the city and to position Indore as a model for smart city projects across India.
Indore, the largest city in Madhya Pradesh and home to over three million people and several key industries in the state, is also part of the central government’s mission to develop 100 smart cities across the country.
One of the key parameters of a smart city is the 24/7 electricity supply to enable digital transformation and the delivery of key services to citizens.
Indore has set itself the objective of stimulating the development of the smart city in line with its “swachh” identity in the world.
ABB’s Compact Secondary Substations (CSS) used in the project reduce downtime by providing stable and reliable power supply through digitally enabled SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) solutions, a-t -he declares.
The CSS also has integrated remote power terminals that monitor the consumption of each household in real time, maintain a healthy network and rapid restoration of electricity through the remotely monitored SCADA system.
ABB’s integrated power supply terminal units are linked to the SCADA center, which allows the control and monitoring of low voltage connections and provides real-time feedback on data related to power distribution.
Kiran Dutt, President of ABB India’s Electrification business, said ABB’s digital solutions will enable a steady supply of electricity, which is vital for the growth of a vibrant city like Indore.
Rishav Gupta, CEO of ISCDL, said: “Efficient electrification is the backbone of a smart city and ABB’s technological approach has shown promising results in the first phase of deployment. It has made it possible to reduce the number of breakdowns and accelerate the resolution of disruption cases. ”
ABB is a leading global technology company driving the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive and sustainable future.
By connecting software to its portfolio of electrification, robotics, automation and motion, ABB is pushing the boundaries of technology to take performance to new levels.
