AICTE Launches GDC Scholarship in Software Engineering for Students
Initiative taken to identify top 40 Indian students for industry-led training and internship program

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), in collaboration with Pupilfirstorg, launched a GDC Scholarship in Software Engineering to identify the top 40 Indian students for an industry-led training program. Students who complete the training will obtain a one-semester distance learning internship with the CoronaSafe / eGov Foundation to contribute open source code to further develop this global digital public good.
The board took to Twitter and announced, âAICTE, in collaboration with pupilfirstorg, launched the GDC Software Engineering Scholarship to identify the brightest software engineering students in India for a training and internship program led by industry. “
The deadline to apply for this advanced programming training is December 26, 2021. The program will run from January 7, 2022 to April 8, 2022.
This is a free online course supported by the industry and will prepare participants for a career in creating production software. Each of the student’s code submissions will be thoroughly reviewed by a coach, and students will also gain hard-earned insight into the limits of abstraction, data modeling, layering, and program design.
This course will attempt to explain the basics of the web where students will learn Django, React, and Typescript along the way. This course is designed to be practical with milestone goals at each level. The objectives are designed to get students to reflect on and implement the concepts they have learned throughout the course.
- Learn industry standard practices for programming and product development.
- Learn the basic concepts of web development.
- Strengthen Python and Typescript skills.
- Develop basic knowledge about databases and how they work.
- Basics of React, Typescript and the Django framework.
- Understand and build modern applications in the Django web framework.
- Basics of deploying and scaling web applications.
A national scholarship certificate will be issued by AICTE to graduates upon completion of this program. Ten scholarships are reserved for women to promote gender parity in this program.

In January 2021, 50,482 students applied for the GDC Software Engineering division. Among them, 24 students were selected and completed the training program. 14 students successfully completed the six-month internship and received the GDC scholarship. These 14 students have completed remote internships with Coronasafe Network, working on various projects such as CARE, ARIKE and LIFE. The students were supported by scholarships from AICTE.
