Baker High School group will make it to the playoff game after all | Mobile County Alabama News

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – The Baker Hornets are tied for the playoffs, but the team almost had to hit the road on their own. Last night we told you that a shortage of bus drivers is forcing the Baker Hornet Band out of the first round match against Auburn. That everything changed this morning

“Originally they looked everywhere and couldn’t find this, but they were able to make a deal with Wright’s Charter Service to get eight charter buses,” said Rena Philips.

Originally, the football team had to take two school buses to Auburn, leaving them six fewer buses for the group. The school system was working to find drivers for the group until Wright’s Charters called this morning to say their availability has changed, paving the way for the group to join their team.

“It’s been twenty very hard months for our kids with everything going on in the world, so for them to have that sense of normalcy and go and celebrate their school in a playoff game is going to be a very happy and exciting time for them. Philips said.
