ITM launches HUF 51 billion tender for the purchase of electric buses


The Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) is launching a HUF 51 billion tender for the purchase of electric buses and the construction of related charging infrastructure, the state secretary said on Friday. energy and climate policy, Attila Steiner, according to a state news report. The tender is open to public transport companies operating in the Budapest metropolitan area and in cities with more than 25,000 inhabitants.

The funding intensity will be 80% for the purchase of buses and 60% for the establishment of charging infrastructure. The ITM expects that around 300 to 350 buses can be purchased under the tender.

Applications can be submitted from May 5 to September 30.

ITM noted that the government will provide full pre-financing for the tender as funding will be provided by the Hungarian Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), but this plan has still not been approved by the European Commission.
