NRL 2022: Canberra Raiders girlfriend Ryan Sutton Kate Ford slides on Instagram Ricky Stuart

The partner of a Raiders star took to Instagram to fire a missile at coach Ricky Stuart after the team’s recent announcement.

Kate Ford, the girlfriend of Raiders star Ryan Sutton, took to Instagram appearing to take a shot at Canberra manager Ricky Stuart after the England striker was left out of the club’s squad for the first round of the NRL season.

The Raiders introduced a new squad when the squad was announced on Tuesday night along with a series of selection surprises, including the club debuts of James Schiller and Adam Elliott.

Sutton was left as a substitute in the No. 18 jumper, despite an impressive season where he played 22 games in 2021.

Sutton is being pursued by rival NRL clubs for the 2023 season and it was reported last week that he was close to announcing a deal with the Bulldogs.

The Daily Telegraph David Riccio said SEN breakfast Sutton will sign a three-year contract with Canterbury once the club are able to withdraw one of their players.

Ford clearly has issues with his partner being dropped from the squad for the season opener against Cronulla at GIO Stadium on Friday night – and suggested in an Instagram post that the decision to drop him was motivated by the fact that he will leave the club at the end of the year.

Along with a series of laughing emojis, Ford reposted a photo of the club’s first-round squad with a caption: ‘& I thought the fashion industry was b****y’.

Kate has a background in fashion and design, having studied at the prestigious fashion school The Whitehouse Institute of Design. She launched her own fashion brand and had over 11,000 Instagram followers before making her account private.

It’s a groundhog day for the Raiders after star striker Joe Tapine’s wife last year went rogue and slammed Stuart for the tactic.

Tapine’s wife, Kirsten, posted a critical message from Stuart on her Instagram Story after the team’s fourth straight loss.

“You have an international player who heats up your bench for 50 minutes… Your rallies are killing us!!! “The number of calls from the referees means jak (sic) when the coaches are (trash emoji).

Stuart reportedly met the couple at the time to work things out.

Tapine reportedly considered leaving the club as a result and attracted interest from the Roosters, Bulldogs and Panthers.

Sutton won’t be the only rookies to join the Dogs in 2023, with Viliame Kikau and Reed Mahoney already heading to Belmore at the end of this season.
